Pressure's On

It is very rewarding for a team to be placed in the #1 seating, but there is a lot of pressure that comes along with that achievement.

Sunday, March 13th, 2011 the baseball rankings announced that Georgia College & State University was ranked #1. These Bobcats have played outstanding and they have moved up in the rankings three spots from the last week rankings. This is Georgia College & State University's first #1 ranking since 2006. They received this ranking not once, but five times in 2006. The Bobcats beat some crucial teams and now they have to be sure to keep this momentum as they move further along in the season.

Not only is this exciting for the Bobcats, but it is exciting for the Peach Belt Conference to have one of their teams showcased as #1. The Bobcats are the only baseball team in the top ten rankings that is a member of the PBC. To be #1 portrays the level of competition that the conference has to offer.

Although it is good to be recognized, being ranked #1 puts the pressure on. It is almost as though no matter who the #1 team is, they will always have a big target on their back. Every other baseball team is going to be out to beat them even more than the others because they too want to be ranked #1. While the Bobcats continue to play well they need to also stay together and not let the pressure get to them.

Other Peach Belt Conference teams that are in the running for this honor are North Georgia, ranked 11th and USC Aiken, ranked 16th. As the baseball season continues so will the rankings.
