Making It All Worth While
The time has come to award players with their well-deserved accolades as the basketball seasons come to an end. The men’s basketball All-Conference team was decided in Aiken, S.C. at a banquet for all teams. Each Head Coach casts a vote on which players they think should make this team, but they are not permitted to vote for any players from their own team. These players are considered to be the top in the entire conference and it is a great honor to be awarded with a place on the team. The first team was made up of Phillip Brown- Georgia Southwestern, Timmy Downs-Clayton State, George Johnson-Augusta State, Franck Ndongo-Augusta State and Brandon Robinson-Clayton State.
Other significant awards are labled as “Freshman of the Year”, “Defensive Player of the Year”, “Player of the Year” and “Coach of the Year”. These are the winners for the 2010-2011 season:
Freshman of the Year: Colin Slotter, Georgia Southwestern
Defensive Player of the Year: Alvin Brown, USC Aiken
Player of the Year: Phillip Brown, Georgia Southwestern
Coach of the Year: Mike Leeder, Georgia SouthwesternPicture from peach belt website
